Caragana arborescens ‘Pendula’ WEEPING SIBERIAN PEA TREE

Unusual small weeping tree with bright green foliage and very attractive yellow “pea”-like flowers in May. Excellent choice for rock garden and patio plantings.

Showy flowering tree native to the Eastern United States. Delicate, lavender-pink flowers appear in May. Redbud has an irregular, Vase-shaped growth habit and heart-shaped green foliage. Avoid sweeping winds, when planting South of I-90 make sure placed in protected area.

Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy' FOREST PANSY REDBUD

Cercis canadensis ‘Hearts of Gold’ (P.P.No. 17740)  HEARTS OF GOLD REDBUD  

Zone: 5      Height: 15 ft.     Width: 15 ft.

Fast grower, this tree is a spectacular & hardy spring bloomer with showy fuchsia pea-like flowers on bare brances early to mid- spring as gold leaves glow as they emerge  in spring and turn to a soft green, then back to yellow in the fall. The heart-shaped leaves make this tree ornamentally significant with a low canopy, typically with a 3’ clearance from the ground.

 

Cercis canadensis ‘Ruby Falls’ (PPAF)  RUBY FALLS WEEPING REDBUD 

6-8 ft. (Zone 5)  Reddish-purple flower appear on stems before the purple foliage.  Elegant weeping form and is perfect for small areas.

 

Chionanthus virginicus WHITE FRINGE TREE

Zone: 4 Height: 15-20 ft. Width: 20 ft.

Normally growing as a multi-stemmed or low branching small tree. Abundant 6 to 8 inch long fleecy white fragrant blooms in spring before the foliage. Unusual flowers are followed by dark blue, grape-like fruit in late summer on female plants. Thick dark green foliage turns yellow in autumn. Great for city plantings.

Cornus kousa KOUSA DOGWOOD

Attractive small flowering tree that blooms about two weeks to a month after C. florida. Flowers are similar to C. florida except the creamy petals of the C. kousa are pointed. Foliage is just as showy and similar. Hardier than C. florida. Clump and single stem forms.

Magnolia x soulangeana ‘Alexandrina’ ALEXANDRINA MAGNOLIA

Zone: 5     Height: 20-25 ft.    

Flowers are flushed rose-purple on the outside, pure white on the inside.  One of the earlier-flowering saucer varieties.  A multi-stemmed or low-branched tree with wide-spreading branches, forming a pyramidal to rounded outline at maturity.  Prefers moist, well-drained soil in sun or part shade.  Used in foundation plantings or as a lawn specimen.  Very attractive.

Large, highly fragrant, creamy-white flowers in late June. Long, dark, shiny green foliage is often semi-evergreen farther south. Does best in moist, rich but well drained soil in a slightly protected location.

Vase to rounded shaped tree. Beautiful semi-double pink flowers in spring, with some reoccurring flowers during warm falls. Dark green foliage turns orange to yellow in fall. Plant in well-drained soil in sun. Can be used as a street tree or specimen.

Pyrus calleryana ‘Cleveland Select’ CLEVELAND SELECT PEAR

A splendid, evenly branched tree with pyramidal form. Young trees bloom white better than P.c.’Bradford’, followed by crisp, glossy green leaves. Very similar to, if not the same as, Chanticleer Pear.

Stewartia pseudocamellia JAPANESE STEWARTIA

Camellia-like white flowers that show in mid summer. One of the few summer bloomers. Fall color make an excellent display of scarlet to reddish-purple. Beautiful exfoliating bark leaves the trunk a fantastic combination.

Densely branched with dark green foliage and white, bell shaped flowers. Yellow fall color.

 

Syringa reticulata JAPANESE TREE LILAC

Zone: 4 Height: 20-30 ft. Width: 15-25 ft.

Large clusters of creamy-white flowers appear in mid to late June. Often used as an accent tree in beds, borders and small yards. Does well in sun or partial shade.
