Acer palmatum ‘Fireglow’ FIREGLOW JAPANESE MAPLE Zone: 5 Height: 12-15 ft. Width: 12-15 ft. This Japanese maple has cherry-red foliage which holds its color through the summer. A slow grower with a beautiful rounded form. Prefers moist, high organic matter, well-drained soil. Protect from sweeping winds. Plant in part sun for best leaf color. An excellent specimen or accent tree. Very similar in appearance to ‘Bloodgood’ but slightly smaller growing. Acer palmatum ‘Tree tyme’ TREE TYME JAPANESE MAPLE Zone:5 Height: 10-15 ft. A branch sport of Acer p. 'Bloodgood' with terminal leaves resembling the larger jap. maple and each set of leaves further back getting smaller and more like the laceleaf varieties. Color is a beautiful maroon turning bright red in fall. Vase shaped growth habit. Laceleaf Japanese Maples (Zone 5) The dissectum group of Japanese Maples refers to the shape, or cut of the leaves. The ‘Laceleaf’ varieties have very deeply cut, or lacy lobed leaves in comparison to the palmate leaves of the standard Japanese Maples. Leaf color ranges from dark burgundy to green with varying degrees in between. Fall color is usually a brilliant red in dark leaf plants while green varieties display bright red to orange colors. Habit varies somewhat with variety but for the most part is horizontal, cascading, or weeping. These highly ornamental trees can be trained, grown, and maintained at sizes from small and shrubby to tall and treelike. All Japanese Maples require well-drained soil that is rich in organic material. Morning sun is best to retain red leaf color and afternoon shade to protect the tender leaves from sunburn. Protect from sweeping winter winds to prevent drying of spring buds. Acer palmatum dissectum ‘Crimson Queen’ - Bright crimson-red leaves. Acer palmatum dissectum ‘Ever Red’ - Deep reddish-purple leaves. Very similar to Acer p. ‘Dissectum Red Select’. Acer palmatum dissectum ‘Inaba-Shidare’ - Very fine, red foliage. Same as Red Select Jap. Maple. Acer palmatum dissectum ‘Orangeola’ - In fall a brilliant display of red- orange. Acer palmatum dissectum ‘Red Dragon’ - Very similar to Acer p. ‘Dissectum Red Select’. Deep reddish-purple color through the summer turning bright red for fall. Acer palmatum dissectum ‘Viridis’ - Finely cut green leaves turn yellow-gold to red to orange in the fall. Acer platanoides ‘Crimson King’ CRIMSON KING MAPLE Zone: 4 Height: 35 ft. Width: 30-35 ft. Rich maroon leaf color all summer, often misnamed ‘Red Maple.’ Plant in well drained soil. Prefers full sun for best leaf color. Slow growing, usually 6 inches per year. Excellent tree for small areas or to accent larger green leafed trees. Very hardy. Acer platanoides ‘Princeton Gold’ (P.P.No.6727) PRINCETON GOLD MAPLE Zone: 4 Height: 35 ft. Width: 30 ft. Oval to rounded growth habit with leaves that emerge in spring bright yellow.
