Large Arborvitae currently unavailable, try Hemlock!

Sometimes the size of plant that you want is just not available at the nursery. That certainly is the case with arborvitae over four foot this spring.

Why not consider the option of Hemlock (scientific name Tsuga canadensis) for a reliable screening plant?

Evergreen hedge rows are a useful and popular way of creating privacy in your landscape. Hemlocks make a graceful evergreen divider between properties and can be used for privacy as well as noise reduction. And as a bonus, any screening that you do in your landscaping can increase the value of your home by 20%.

Hemlocks can grow to a height of 40 feet or more and 25-35 feet wide. Surprisingly though, they can be planted as close as ten feet apart and with proper trimming will grow into a nice thick dense border. They can also be planted in a staggered row for an even more interesting look. Hemlocks like to be planted in a well-drained soil in sun or shade.

Johnston's Evergreen Nursery has Hemlock available for sale this year in size ranges from three feet up to as tall as eight feet.

Please feel free to ask one of our sales associates what we have in stock and at what prices.

Remember that Hemlocks are the state tree of Pennsylvania!
