Euonymus alata compacta DWARF BURNING BUSH
6 ft. (Zone 4) Extremely popular ornamental shrub. Cork-like bark, lacy green foliage, scarlet-orange berries and brilliant red fall color make this plant interesting year round. Compact growth habit lends itself to a wide variety of uses.
A Note About Burning Bush:
Euonymus alata has proven to be prolific in warmer parts of our state and in areas of the east coast. Therefore, in the best interest of our entire commonwealth the PA Department of Agriculture (PDA) has classified Burning Bush recently as a Class B Noxious Weed. Our green industry has been granted a grace period until January 10, 2025, where Nurseries and Garden Centers are permitted to sell Burning Bush as we all work toward growing an alternative plant or a hybrid cultivar to replace this staple plant for our customers. Even with this new classification, the PDA is not asking homeowners to remove any existing plantings of Burning Bush and they will not be attempting to eradicate Burning Bush across PA. We hope this information is helpful and we appreciate your patience and understanding during this time of transition.
