Even though our name is Johnston’s Evergreen Nursery, we do carry a full line of landscape plants.

Summer Squash ...

Patty Pan 'Yellow Scallop' - This variety is from France that is pure yellow.  Best eaten when young, and can be fried or baked. 

Straightneck 'Yellow' -  50 Days - 10 to 14-inch long yellow fruit are produced on an easy to grow and very productive plant.  Great sautéed or fried.  


Zucchini 'Black Beauty' - 50 Days - The classic dark-green summer squash.  Easy to grow and very productive.  Introduced in U.S. markets during the 1920's.  Delicious fried or baked.  Best picked young.   


Winter Squash ...

Acorn, Green 'Table Queen' - 75 Days - Bush plants that average about 5 fruits per plant.  Thick orange flesh.  Has a delicious flavor and they store well for winter use.  


Hubbard 'Blue'100 Days - Very large teardrop-shaped fruits.  Flesh is bright orange and dry.  Stores well.  Can reach 40 lbs.

Butternut 'Waltham'- 100 Days - Hourglass-shaped fruit.  They are one of the most popular winter squashes.  About 9" and weigh about 4 to 5 pounds.  Stores well.  Flesh is orange with a nutty flavor.  AAS winner in 1970.  


Candy Roaster 'North Georgia' - 100 Days - A beautiful banana-shaped pink to orange squash that is delicious and appealing!  10 lb. or more fruits are produced on vigorous vines.  Used for pies, fried, or baked.  Heirloom.  

Gourd, Mixture - 90 to 100 Days - A fall classic!  Diverse ornamental gourds are produced that welcomes fall.  


Musquee de Provence - 125 Days - Large flat and ribbed pumpkin with thick, deep orange flesh that is very sweet and delicious!  Long storage life.  Very decorative as well!


Pumpkin 'Big Doris' - 90 Days - A large 30 to 40 lb. orange pumpkin that has great form - perfect for carving!  Space every 18 to 24".  F1 hybrid. 

Pumpkin 'Big Rock' - 98 Days - Comparable to the classic 'Howden' pumpkin, this hybrid variety has a blocky round shape with thick, short handles which makes it perfect for carving. 


Pumpkin 'Casper' - 100 Days - A smooth, "ghostly" white pumpkin that has excellent resistance to powdery mildew.  Perfect for fall displays!

Pumpkin 'Champion' F1 - 90 Days - A large Jack-o-Lantern type that produces 30 lb. or more size fruits.  Large handle and an upright pumpkin shape.  Average yield is 1 to 2 per plant.

Pumpkin 'Cinnamon Girl' F1 - 85 Days - A dark orange pumpkin with a good resistance to powdery mildew.  Great for decorations or baking!  Average yield is 3 to 4 per plant.

Pumpkin 'Jack-be-Little' - 100 Days - A tiny pumpkin that can easily fit in your hand!  Makes for great fall decorating indoors and outside. 


Pumpkin 'Knucklehead' - 105 Days - A 12 to 16 lb. pumpkin covered in warts!  Makes a very unique carved pumpkin, or can be left un-carved because of it's unique appearance.

Pumpkin 'Marina di Chioggia' - 95 Days - A unique, warty pumpkin with a bluish-green coloration.  Rich, sweet flesh of good quality is great for pies and baking.  An heirloom from the coast of Italy.

Pumpkin 'Polar Bear' - 100 Days - A 30 to 40 lb. white pumpkin is produced on vigorous vines.  Average yield of 1 fruit per plant.  Makes a great fall display and carving pumpkin!  F1 hybrid.


 Pumpkin 'Rouge Vif d'Etampes' - 95 Days - 1880's French Heirloom.  Large flattened and ribbed reddish-orange pumpkin that is gourgeous and delicious baked or in pies.  Can also be picked small and used like summer squash.

Queensland Blue - 110 Days - Heirloom.  From Australia.  Deeply ribbed bluish-green squash that is very sweet with great flavor.  10-20 lb. fruits. 


Spaghetti - 73 Days - Fruits are 6" to 8" by 4" to 5" wide.  Compact vines.  Flesh is similar to spaghetti noodles, and is also less fattening.  


Sweet Dumpling - 90 Days - One of the sweetest sqush available, the small flattened and ribbed 1lb. fruit is perfect for many dishes.  White skin with green stripes seal the tender orange flesh.  A customer favorite!

Turks Cap / Turban - 90 Days - Orange, red, green, and white color this very old and unique variety of squash from France, dating back to the earl 1800's.  The sweet orange flesh makes it great for cooking, and also makes a great fall centerpiece!
