Matteuccia struthiopteris (Formerly M. pennsylvanica) OSTRICH FERN
2-6 ft. (Zone 2) Also known as Matteuccia struthiopteris, this fern has medium green plume-like fronds. Fertile fronds are shorter and will become woody and brown in fall. Spores are released in winter or early spring. Habit is erect to short spreading. Likes part shade, but will tolerate sun if soil is moist. This native fern will grow in wet soil if planted high.
