Polystichum acrostichoides CHRISTMAS FERN

1-2 ft. (Zone 3)  A very common native fern with upright, arching dark green fronds.  Habit is compact to slow spreading.  Leathery foliage is evergreen with new fronds emerging each spring.  Plant prefers shade to part shade in moist organic-rich soil, but is one of the best for dry rocky sites.  Do not plant in wet soils.
